34 billionaires / 34 Billionaires Pledged to Give Half of Wealth to Charities

The wealthiest men of the world are coming together in a charitable way. Over 30 billionaires have decided to give at least 50 percent of their fortune to charities.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates and investor Warren Buffet joined forces to promote an altruistic campaign titled, 'The Giving Pledge' in June. The goal of the campaign is to have hundreds of U.S. billionaires give away most of their riches throughout their lifetime or at their death. Billionaires would have to publicly state their intention in a letter of explanation.

To date, a few of the dedicated well-off men include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, entertainment executive Barry Diller, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens, media mogul Ted Turner, David Rockefeller and investor Ronald Perelman.
